Washington DC- Today, U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) released the following statement on President Obama’s appointment of Susan Rice as his National Security Advisor:

“I strongly support the President’s selection of Ambassador Susan Rice as his National Security Advisor.  Susan has been a tough diplomat and an effective representative of the United States at the UN and throughout her distinguished career.  I am proud to call Susan a friend and look forward to working with her in this new role.  The President and the country will be well served with her counsel and leadership as we face a host of growing security challenges around the world.  I also want to thank Tom Donilon for his tireless service on behalf of our country’s national security.  Tom has been at the President’s side through a very challenging period in our nation’s history and was instrumental in redefining the U.S. role and image in the world.  I expect that he will continue to make important contributions to our national security debate.”
