WASHINGTON, DC— U.S. Senator Bob Casey, Chairman of the Joint Economic Committee, released the following statement:

“Today, the Senate had an opportunity to save or create thousands of jobs for teachers and first responders in Pennsylvania. This legislation would have also helped to keep our communities safe and educate our children. This bill was a win-win for Pennsylvania and Pennsylvania families. Unfortunately, the Senate said no.

“Washington needs to come together to help families hit hard by the recession and to spur job creation.”
