Washington, DC - Today, U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) released the following statement on the imposition of additional Russian sanctions:

“Despite its pledges at Geneva last week, Russia is not working in good faith to de-escalate the violence in eastern Ukraine and find a political solution to the situation. As such, I welcome President Obama’s decision to impose additional sanctions on members of President Putin’s inner circle and to limit exports that would help the Russian military in any way.  Mr. Putin must understand there are real consequences for his continued aggression in the region.  Russia has continued to flout several international norms in the last few days, allowing their proxy militant groups to kidnap journalists and media workers and abduct OSCE inspectors.  This kind of behavior cannot be tolerated.”
