WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) released the following statement after a call with Kelcy Warren, Chairman and CEO of Energy Transfer Partners (EPT) and Brian MacDonald, CEO of Sunoco:

“It has been my goal all along with these refineries to retain Pennsylvania jobs and reduce any negative impact on regional gas prices.  I was gratified that both Energy Transfer Partners and Sunoco have indicated to me that they are committed to keeping both Sunoco’s retail business headquarters and their logistics business in Pennsylvania.  In addition, I was pleased that negotiations with the Carlyle Group to maintain the Philadelphia facility as a refinery will not be affected by this acquisition. These assurances should go a long way toward protecting Pennsylvania jobs and I will continue to work with these companies to ensure a smooth transition in the best interest of the Commonwealth.”
