"Reports of a compromise between the Ukrainian government and opposition leaders appear to be a step in the right direction. A peaceful resolution to the conflict is needed, and I welcome the Ukrainian Parliament’s decision to repeal laws restricting the basic rights of freedom of assembly and expression. The Ukrainian people deserve to have their voices heard and I support their desire for their country to prosper, economically and democratically.”
