Tastykake Owner Flowers Foods Considering Expansion of Oxford Plant; Could Bring More Jobs to Southeastern PA
Casey Urges Flowers to Move Forward with Expansion
WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) is urging the owner of Tastykake to proceed with a possible expansion of its Oxford bakery, a move that could create jobs and broaden the company’s positive economic footprint in southeastern Pennsylvania.
“Tastykake’s presence in southeastern Pennsylvania is important for the economy and jobs in the region,” said Senator Casey. “I stand ready to assist in any way possible to help the company increase its presence and bring jobs by expanding its facility in Oxford.”
In a letter to Flowers Foods, Senator Casey urged the CEO t0 move forward with the possible expansion, citing the company’s state-of-the-art facility in Oxford and the region’s strong workforce.

Dear Mr. Deese:
I write in regard to recent reports that Flowers Foods is considering expanding its production capacity in Pennsylvania. It is my understanding that the existing Tastykake facility in Oxford, Pennsylvania, may be expanded to accommodate an additional bakery.
I encourage you to move forward with this expansion. The existing Tastykake bakery in Oxford is a state-of-the-art facility with a strong performance record and serves as an important employer in the region. Enlarging this plant would be a win-win for both Flowers Foods and the region as a whole.
I would like to provide any assistance I can to help with this potential expansion.
