Washington, DC- Today, the Senate confirmed Cheryl Ann Krause to the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, which includes Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and the Virgin Islands. She was introduced in a Senate Judiciary Hearing by U.S. Senators Bob Casey (D-PA) and Pat Toomey (R-PA) in March.   President Obama nominated Judge Krause to the Third Circuit Court of Appeals in February. Both Casey and Toomey today praised a bipartisan vote of the Senate to confirm Cheryl Ann Krause as a federal judge to the United States Court of Appeals.

“I am pleased that Cheryl Ann Krause was confirmed to the Third Circuit Court of Appeals with bipartisan support from the Senate,” Senator Casey said.  “Cheryl began her academic studies as an undergraduate at the University of Pennsylvania and later returned to teach at Penn’s highly regarded law school.  She is also a partner at one of Philadelphia’s great law firms. Cheryl’s reputation for legal excellence in both the public and private sector is well known in Pennsylvania and throughout the country.  Cheryl’s prior experiences have prepared her well for a seat on the Third Circuit Court of Appeals. I am confident that she will fulfill her position as a federal judge with fairness and integrity.”

“In the same spirit of bipartisanship that Sen. Casey and I have been committed to when filling other federal judgeships in Pennsylvania, I was happy to support the nomination of Ms. Krause to the 3rd Circuit and am even happier to see her confirmed by the Senate today,” said Senator Toomey.  “In addition to her outstanding legal credentials, which include a clerkship for Justice Anthony Kennedy on the U.S. Supreme Court, Ms. Krause has a wealth of legal experience in public service and private practice.  Ms. Krause has worked as a prosecutor, serving as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, as well as a defense attorney in private practice, which provides her with a balanced legal perspective. I appreciate Ms. Krause's willingness to serve on the federal bench and look forward to having her sworn in soon."
