WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senators Bob Casey (D-PA) and Pat Toomey (R-PA) announced that the Senate has honored the 2013 Penn State women’s volleyball team.  Sens. Toomey and Casey introduced a bipartisan resolution commemorating the team’s NCAA title run which was unanimously approved.

“Penn State’s women’s volleyball program has once again made our entire state proud,” Sen. Casey said. “Penn State’s long record of excellence and consistency is a testament to its players, coaches and the entire community.”

“Penn State’s women’s volleyball program is a dynasty,” said Sen. Toomey.  “It takes remarkable dedication, coaching, and leadership to win a National Championship, let alone five in seven years.  Congratulations to Coach Rose, his team, and Penn State University on a terrific achievement.”

The Penn State University women’s volleyball team won the 2013 NCAA Championship in December by defeating the University of Wisconsin in a thrilling four set match. The title is the fifth NCAA national championship for Nittany Lions in the last seven years and sixth overall.  These six titles match Stanford University for the most women's volleyball championships by a single program in history.

Text of Sens. Toomey and Casey’s resolution is provided below:
