Air Force Working Group Will Decide the Allocation of 32 C-130s
Senators Ask that Analysis Be Considered During Air Force Review
Washington DC- Today, U.S. Senators Bob Casey (D-PA) and Pat Toomey (R-PA) submitted analysis showing the effectiveness and efficiency of the 911th Airlift Wing to an Air Force working group that will decide the allocation of C-130s. During a recent meeting, General Moeller, who is leading the Air Force Commission, said he would accept additional studies as the Air Force decides the allocation of 32 C-130s at installations across the country. The analysis submitted by Senators Casey and Toomey show the 911th to be one of the country’s most efficient and effective.
The Senators wrote, “Based upon this compelling information, we strongly urge the Air Force to continue stationing C-130 aircraft at the Pittsburgh International Airport Air Reserve Station.”

Dear General Moeller:
Thank you for your recent offer to provide information from the Pennsylvania congressional delegation to the working group, which is preparing airlift structure recommendations for the Air Force senior leadership.
We respectfully request the working group include in its analysis the attached materials concerning the 911th Military Airlift Wing (USAFR). Based upon this compelling information, we strongly urge the Air Force to continue stationing C-130 aircraft at the Pittsburgh International Airport Air Reserve Station. We urge the Air Force to take no irrevocable action at the Pittsburgh IAP ARS until the National Commission on the Structure of the Air Force has provided its report to Congress. Doing so would enable the Air Force to continue availing itself of the unit’s deep bench of experience and outstanding support from the Pittsburgh International Airport.
Additionally, in the absence of any comparative analysis which the Air Force has yet to provide, we are concerned it would be a waste of taxpayer dollars to close this installation.
