April 17 is Deadline to File for Refunds from 2008

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) today urged his constituents to identify $35 million in unclaimed tax refunds that are owed to Pennsylvanians from 2008. The window to claim refunds from 2008 closes on April 17, 2012.

“Pennsylvanian’s who are owed money from the IRS can take steps to ensure they receive their checks,” said Senator Casey. “In this difficult economic time, every dollar in the pockets of Pennsylvania families goes a long way toward meeting everyday expenses and keeping commerce in the Commonwealth strong.”

Refunds totaling over $35 million are owed to 38,700 Pennsylvanians who have not filed a tax return for 2008.

Current and prior year tax forms and instructions are available on the Forms and Publications page of IRS.gov or by calling toll-free 800-TAX-FORM (800-829-3676).

Taxpayers who believe their refund check may have been returned to the IRS as undelivered should use the “ Where’s My Refund?” tool on IRS.gov. The tool will provide the status of their refund and, in some cases, instructions on how to resolve delivery problems.
