Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) released the following statement after the Senate passed his bill, the 21st Century Veterans Benefits Delivery Act, unanimously:
"I am pleased that the Senate passed the 21st Century Veterans Benefits Delivery Act unanimously. Fixing a broken claims process is an important step in caring for our veterans. This bill creates vital reforms at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to eliminate the disability claims backlog and improve the claims process. It’s simply unacceptable to have a veteran with a disability wait hundreds of days for their claim to be resolved. This legislation will move the VA’s disability claims system into the 21st Century so that it delivers the relief that our veterans and their families deserve. This time of year is one for commendation and gratitude for our veterans who have served our country valiantly. We still have so much work to do to improve the way our veterans get the benefits and care they deserve, but passage of this bill is one major step in the right direction”
