In June, Senator Casey Urged Secretary to Visit

Energy Secretary Will Discuss Energy Development in Pittsburgh Today

Washington DC- U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) released the following statement welcoming U.S. Energy Secretary Moniz to Western Pennsylvania as he visited Pittsburgh on Monday to discuss energy development. In June, Senator Casey urged Secretary Moniz to visit the National Energy Technology Laboratory so he could see firsthand the strength of the state’s energy workforce and the fossil energy research, development, and demonstrations that are occurring at NETL.

“Pennsylvania is an energy state and I’m pleased that Secretary Moniz will get a chance to see that firsthand today. Pennsylvania has vast natural resources that we can leverage through smart policies that will help us meet our energy challenges while protecting our jobs, economy, energy independence, and reliable electricity supply. In the coming months, I’ll be urging the Energy Department to work closely with NETL along with stakeholders throughout the state to continue our state’s role as a leader in energy development.”
