Lackawanna, Allegheny, Westmoreland and Montgomery Counties to Receive Funding Along with Philadelphia, Norristown, Lehigh Valley and Carlisle Borough / Casey Weighed in with Administration to Boost PA Grant Applications to Highly Competitive Program / Redeveloping Sites Has Potential to Boost Economic Growth, Improve Public Health
Washington DC- Following his efforts U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) announced that communities across Pennsylvania have been awarded highly competitive brownfield grants to redevelop sites with potentially hazardous substances. One Lackawanna County project will receive $500,000, one Carlisle borough project will receive $400,000, one project in the Lehigh Valley will receive $500,000, one project in Norristown will receive $400,000, one project in Allegheny County will receive $400,000, one project in Westmoreland County will receive $500,000 and two projects in Philadelphia will receive $400,000 and $200,000 respectively.

“These grants have the potential to transform local properties in communities across Pennsylvania from ones which contain potentially hazardous substances to ones that boost economic growth, bolstering locally driven solutions to some of the challenges that our communities face,” said Casey.” I appreciate the careful consideration that EPA gave Pennsylvania’s applications. I’ll continue to work to ensure that Pennsylvania communities have an opportunity to turn these sites into economic opportunities.”
