Air National Guard Will Recognize “America’s Most Historic Square Mile” By Flying Over Independence Mall
In May Letter, Casey Urged National Guard to Bring Flyover to Philadelphia’s Celebration of Freedom
WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) today announced that following his request, the Air National Guard will perform a flyover of Philadelphia’s July 4th celebration with two F-16s.
The flyover will be conducted by the New Jersey Air National Guard and take place around 10:55 a.m. over Independence Mall along ‘America’s most historic square mile.’
“There are few better places to celebrate the 4th of July than Philadelphia, and now a flyover will add to the celebration,” Senator Casey said. “Every year over 100,000 Americans from across the country spend July 4th in Philadelphia celebrating the birth of the nation and underscoring the city’s reputation as a world class tourist destination. There’s simply no better place for a flyover than the place where the Declaration of Independence was signed.”
Senator Casey urged the National Guard to perform the flyover in a letter last month.
