Casey: Abrams Tank Funding Recommendation Good for National Security and Jobs in NEPA
WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) announced that the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense has recommended the addition of $240 million for upgrades to the Abrams tank.
“The continued production of the Abrams tank contributes to our national security, industrial base and the local economy,” said Senator Casey. “I appreciate the subcommittee’s recommendation to fund upgrades to this essential piece of equipment and I will fight to see it implemented.”
In June, Senator Casey wrote a letter to push the Senate Armed Services Committee to reconsider plans to halt production of the tank. He also recently toured General Dynamics, the Eynon plant that produces the tank, to see firsthand the specialized work involved in tank production and reiterate his support for the facility’s employees and their work to ensure our national security interests are met.
