Elements of Program Have Become Nationwide Model for Energy Efficiency / EEB Has Created Jobs in Southeastern PA, Moved Region Towards Clean Energy / Hub Has Made Reforms to Increase Effectiveness

Washington DC- Today, U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) announced that he pressed the case for Philadelphia Energy Efficient Buildings Hub (EEB) during a personal meeting with Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz. Some in Congress have tried to eliminate the program although elements of it have become a nationwide model for energy efficiency. The EEB Hub has created jobs in the region and moved the state towards clean energy while making reforms to increase the hub’s efficiency.

“I was pleased to have the opportunity to discuss Philadelphia’s EEB Hub with Secretary Moniz,” Senator Casey said. “Secretary Moniz and I had a positive conversation. I discussed with him the significant impact that the EEB Hub has had around the country and the region. I’m hopeful that the EEB Hub will continue to play a role in the Department of Energy’s strategy.”
