PITTSTON, PA – U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) today toured Interstate Window & Door Co. in Pittston and discussed the impact of energy efficiency tax credits in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act which have helped this and other companies keep their doors open.

“I am pleased to see firsthand the recovery bill helping businesses and preserving jobs,” said Senator Casey.  “Interstate Window & Door Co. has put recovery dollars to work making quality products, keeping Pennsylvanians employed and providing products that can reduce utility bills.”

Senator Casey also held a roundtable discussion with businesses and others who benefitted from the energy efficiency tax credit in the Recovery Act.  The groups at the roundtable all benefited from the tax credits and include those who produce raw material for windows, window manufacturers, those who install the windows and a community action agency that helps low-income residents install energy efficient windows to reduce utility costs for families.

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, enacted in February 2009, expanded a tax credit to encourage the installation of energy efficient products like windows, doors and furnaces.   Consumers who make purchases of qualified products through the end of this year are eligible for a tax credit equal to 30 percent of the product cost up to a maximum total credit of $1,500.
