Casey Spoke on Senate Floor to Urge Confirmation
WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) today spoke on the Senate floor to praise Judge Cathy Bissoon and urge the Senate to confirm her nomination for the United States District Judge for the Western District of Pennsylvania. Judge Bissoon was later confirmed by a vote of 82-3.
“I am pleased that the Senate tonight voted to confirm Judge Bissoon,” said Senator Casey. “Her experience and judgment make her well-qualified. She is an American success story and I am confident that she will be an asset to the Western District of Pennsylvania. I am hopeful that the Senate will act quickly to fill the other U.S. district vacancies in Pennsylvania.”
Since 2008, Cathy Bissoon has served as a U.S. magistrate judge for the Western District of Pennsylvania. Between 2007 and 2008, she served as the department head of the labor group at Cohen & Grigsby, P.C. in Pittsburgh. Prior to her arrival at Cohen & Grigsby, she served as a partner at Reed Smith LLP from 2001 and 2007.
