Funding will help make much-needed repairs and upgrades
Washington, D.C. - U.S. Senators Arlen Specter and Bob Casey announced today that the Department of Defense has allocated $36.2 million in federal funding for 78 military construction and maintenance projects at 35 military facilities across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
The funding is contained in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 which is expected to provide approximately $7.4 billion in defense-related funding.
“I am pleased that Pennsylvania’s military facilities will benefit from the stimulus bill,” said Senator Specter. “This funding will create jobs and modernize our military support structure so that our installations can continue to thrive and contribute to our nation’s defense.”
“I am happy that these recovery funds are being allocated so quickly for Pennsylvania’s military facilities,” Senator Casey said. “These funds will help Pennsylvania create jobs, upgrade military equipment and facilities and provide the support our military men and women need to keep our nation safe.”
