Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senators Arlen Specter and Bob Casey lauded the nomination of Zane David Memeger to serve as the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.  Memeger was nominated today by President Obama.

“Zane Memeger will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position of U.S. Attorney,” Senator Specter said. “President Obama has nominated someone with excellent professional and academic credentials and a strong commitment to justice.”

“Zane Memeger has an exemplary record of fighting crime including eleven years of service as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Philadelphia,” said Senator Casey.  “He has the experience, integrity and judgment to serve the people of Southeastern Pennsylvania and the country with distinction.”

Memeger’s nomination will now be submitted for consideration to the Senate Judiciary Committee, where Senator Specter sits.   If confirmed by the Committee and the full Senate, Memeger will serve as the chief federal law enforcement officer of the office which oversees federal criminal and civil cases in nine counties in Southeastern Pennsylvania.  

Memeger served 11 years, starting in 1995, as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania where he investigated and prosecuted a variety of federal crimes. Memeger is currently a partner at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, LLP  in Philadelphia where he works in their Litigation Practice and as member of the firm's Corporate Investigations and White Collar Practice.  Memeger joined the firm in 1991 after receiving his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.  Memeger received his B.S. in political science from James Madison University in 1986.
