Casey: Dedicated Workers Deserve Job Placement Assistance

More Than 600 Employees Affected by Closure

WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) today urged T-Mobile to help employees affected by the closure of its call center in Hanover Township find new work.

“T-Mobile’s dedicated workforce deserves assistance in finding new jobs as the company winds down operations in Hanover Township,” Senator Casey said. “For the livelihoods of the workers and the health of the Lehigh Valley economy, it is imperative to keep as many of these employees as possible working.”

In a letter to T-Mobile CEO Philipp Humm, Senator Casey requested that the company provide assistance to its employees by helping them find work elsewhere within the company or at other local employers.

Senator Casey’s letter is below:

Mr. Philipp Humm

CEO and President

T-Mobile USA

Dear Mr. Humm:

I understand that T-Mobile USA recently announced plans to close its Hanover Township, Pennsylvania call center by the end of June.  With more than 600 employees, this facility is important to the Lehigh Valley economy.  Therefore, I ask that T-Mobile provide assistance to its employees either through helping them find work at another T-Mobile facility, or identifying opportunities with local employers.  T-Mobile’s loyal workforce needs support from the company during this time of change.

Thank you for your attention to this issue.

Sincerely,

Robert P. Casey, Jr.

United States Senator
